Wow, it’s been a while. No, I didn’t get buried in the litter box – more like the inbox. Thanks for all the letters, and for those who haven’t yet written, feel free to send your serious, silly, sad, sublime, and salacious questions to deartabby@mail.com.
I will share just a taste of what I’ve received so far. If you don’t see your letter posted today, check back soon as I will be posting as much as possible between cat naps. Now, onto the letters!
Dear Tabby,
I feel a little silly writing to a cat, but oh well, here goes nothing. Last week my girlfriend of three months told me she loves me. And what did I do? I froze, then said, “Oh, um, cool”. Cool? What was I thinking??? Well cool is what our relationship has been since. How do I fix this?
Not Such A Cool Cat in Connecticut
Dear Cool Cat,
I guess the big question here is, do you love her? Was your reaction just a bit of cold feet as a result of such an unexpected exclamation, or are you looking to cool your heels in this relationship? I think if you are taking the time to write to a cat, you care about this girl and this relationship. She clearly loves you, so this shouldn’t be hard to fix. Simply explain your in-the-moment shock (maybe using the ol’ cat-got-your-tongue excuse) as the reason for your fumbling, and that you love her too. Just be sure if you are going to tell her you love her, that you really do.
